Today, December 8th, Jupiter turns retrograde, and will travel backwards through Leo for four months, when he will return to direct motion on April 8th, 2015.
Jupiter turning retrograde slows him down, making him more powerful and noticeable as an energy, at least for this first month. Jupiter represents the expansive and expressive energy of optimism, as well as faith in a meaningful future. With the backward motion there could also be an inward turning, so that the emphasis could shift to contemplating and possibility reevaluating cherished values and beliefs. There may be elements of looking more deeply into Jupiterian areas of life, such as plans for travel, completing advanced education, or taking workshops or other curriculums that facilitate higher learning.
The timing of this Jupiter retrograde is taking place during one peak of the Uranus-Pluto square that frames this entire decade with massive change and revolution, and which was triggered by the recent Full Moon. This configuration perfects its 90-degree angle on December 15th, suggesting that with all of the changes you have undergone this year, you will this month be experiencing still more. As you arrive at another peak moment of metamorphosis, it could be time to evaluate how and in what ways you can integrate these recent and continuing transformations into your framework of beliefs and values, that are ultimately responsible for your thoughts, actions, ways of being.
This might also be good time to tap into and take stock of the internal energies of your life that are not as easy to quantify. Are there any areas that are draining you because they have not come to a state of completion? This month could be about returning your mental sphere to a state of integrity, and finding new intention, as you move forward from that sense of wholeness. Jupiter is also stopping dead still in the sky while at an almost exact trine with the new planet, Eris, representing deep soul purpose; as well as speaking up to create the opportunity for that purpose to unfold. This might mean that you need to get in deeper touch with spirit or your higher self, in order to fortify the trust that is required to allow life to live itself through you. We are all channels for divine energy to speak through us and bring gifts forth into the world. Fear and doubt are the shackles of ego that prevent us from allowing that energy to move freely through us. This retrograde might offer you a chance to come to a deeper understanding and faith in life, the universe and yourself ? ultimately one and the same ? in order to take a stand and bring forth your deepest gifts into this world.
