A November Month of Transformation and Surprises

This is an exciting and changeful month of November that we have going, with an amazing and powerful Scorpio New Moon right from its very beginning, taking place in the morning hours of Friday, November 1st, and featuring a grand cross and a partile or same-degree opposition from Mars to Pluto in the final or anaretic degrees of their respective signs of Cancer and Capricorn. This is thus making this dynamite opposition even more poignant. Because just on the edge of the next sign, both Leo and Aquarius are additionally affected. The grand trine (and kite) formation is between Mars at 29° of Cancer, Mercury at 28° of Scorpio, and Neptune at 27° of Pisces. A Water sign Mercury that is strongly configured with Neptune and Mars could reference analyzing emotional content, or the possibility of idealizations or even deceptions taking over our mental landscape including fantasy dreams from beyond the 3D world of our senses, chores, and schedules. To mightily cap this off, Mercury is also opposite Trickster Uranus in Taurus, while the Taurus Full Moon of the 15th features the Moon in a 1-degree conjunction with this energy of unexpected events and surprising revelations. All in all, this November is what we might call a wild and crazy month with, what else? let’s see… oh, yes! An absolutely consequential US election hanging in the balance. God bless.

To further examine the Scorpio New Moon that begins the month and that characterizes its entire thirty days, we find the Sun and Moon, at 9° of Scorpio, in trine with Saturn in Pisces, bringing at least a modicum of stability to the proceedings. Saturn is due to station to direct motion in collusion with the Taurus Full Moon, on the same day. We also find Saturn in quintile to Uranus in both of these lunations, which brings another interesting combination to bear, where what is a rather rebellious and untamed energy is therefore somewhat contained. The caveat to this though is that in any astrological contest between Uranus and Saturn, Uranus will win! So once remarked to me, in similar circumstances to this one, seminal Cosmic Love astrologer Jan Spiller. Since Uranus is so greatly present in these key lunations for the November month, we can profit by staying as open as we can to possibility. You never know where inspiration might be lying in wait; as the Grateful Dead lyric goes: “Once in a while you can get shown the light/ In the strangest of places if you look at it right!”

Along with strong Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, we have also to contend with, as the November month begins to wind down, not one by two inner planet retrogrades looming. Mars will station in Leo, in early December, and be slowing down in the sky leading up to that. Mercury stations to reverse motion on November 25th, right after the Last Quarter Moon at the beginning of Virgo, aspecting the new Nature planet, Haumea, by a close sextile. Haumea reminds us of our profound connection to Nature and her creatures, as well as to a species of natural law that we all carry somewhere within, urging that we treat each other fairly, strive for right action, and try not to lie. The retrograde station of Mercury at 22° Sagittarius coincides with a very nearly exact parallel between Mercury and Venus, therefore affecting the signs of Sagittarius, where Mercury will be moving backward, and then recovering, through to the end of the year, and also of Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, and Libra, which Venus and Mercury rule. All through, we are likely to be introspectively reflecting upon – plus reviewing, and potentially revising – the areas of life that we find in our charts in connection with these five signs.

And speaking of Haumea, we do continue to see her in close square with Pluto, which does seem to bring out, especially when triggered by other planetary alignments, the question of who we can trust not to be prevaricating for political advantage in these fractious times. As Mars slows to half its normal speed in the beginning of November and reaches the 0° Leo mark in time for Election Day here in the US, from November 3rd to the 5th, opposing Pluto at almost 0° of Aquarius and squaring Haumea at 1° Scorpio, we will see that maxim tested to the hilt. The election, to my way of seeing things, could very well turn out to be a referendum on who of these two major candidates comes closer to telling the truth.
